Compare IPsec vs SSL/TLS

Compare IPsec vs SSL/TLS

The standard agency for both IPSEC and SSL/TLS is IETF.
But, Ipsec is running on layer 3 while SSL/TLS is running on layer 4.
IPsec can encrypt all types of application traffic in layer 3, but SSL/TLS vpn can only encrypt the traffic from application which support SSL/TLS.
IPSEC can be managed centrally and more secure than SSL/TLS vpn but SSL/TLS often used because application developer want to make sure that data protected securely because they do not know it is protected in layer 3 or not.
And no additional cost is required for SSL/TLS because it is built in web browser or email server. There are three types in IPSEC mode such as host-to-host, site-to-site, remote access but only host-to-host mode supported for SSL/TLS vpn.
